CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Svaroopa® Yoga - Svaroopa® yoga offers a practice that is both physical and more than physical. Practicing the poses creates an inner opening thru the release of the deepest layers of muscle tension in your body - the layers that wrap around your spine.
When you experience this physical opening, you initiate conscious access to the vast inner realms of your own being. Within this atmosphere of understanding, you are able to pursue the deeper purposes of yoga. Using hatha yoga to understand your own essential nature.
The physical transformation is undeniable, but the inner transformation has a significantly more profound effect on your life and for those with whom you choose to share your life. Your eyes now see the world as perfect just the way it is...and the only aspect that has changed is YOU.
Gentle/Seniors - A gentle Svaroopa® approach for those with special needs. The class is a slow and gentle style with emphasis on total health. This class includes stretching and strengthening of muscles and joints, while working the bodies internal organs to rebuild health. Breathing exercises and relaxation skills are also emphasized. The integration of body, mind, and emotions is included to increase health benefits.
Vinyasa Flow - An enlivening vinyasa linked with a playful attitude. We link breath and movement, allowing for a heart opening experience that integrates mind, body, and spirit to awaken the true essence of the Self...Bliss.
Anusara Yoga - The word "Anusara" means "flowing with grace." Anusara yoga is both a heart-oriented and alignment-based practice that recognizes and helps us to see the good in all things.
Restorative Yoga - This is a form of "diagnostic" yoga which aims to correct disparities in the musculo-skeletal system. This basic form of yoga is especially helpful for people with chronic pain issues, people who sit a lot at computers, or people who just want a self adjustment! Come and get "straightened out" before taking the more "strengthening" style classes (Vinyasa and Shivananda). The aim is to correct posture by realigning the musculo-skeletal system through a series of yoga warm-ups and asanas. Diaphragmatic breathing is incorporated throughout the practice. Postural Flow helps to bring primary muscle groups back into full operation (rather than secondary muscles that have taken over, due to our sedentary habits). With correct posture comes the opening of channels for all the systems in the body to operate on a more functional basis.
Yin Yoga - Yin Yoga is based on Taoist principles of yin and yang. It is a meditative practice, focusing on connective tissue by relaxing the muscles and holding a pose for a long period of time. Thus, the connective tissues are lengthened and lubricated, resulting in a better range of motion. Yin Yoga calms the mind and encourages prana to flow through the meridians, ultimately balancing the qi.
