Amanda
Sallander is a not only a RYT (Registered with Yoga Alliance) but a
yoga practitioner…one who practices what they preach. While
attending Illinois State University for a B.S. in Education, Amanda
joined the ISU recreational team as a group fitness instructor. Upon
graduation Amanda developed her repertoire of certifications and
trainings in ACE, Hatha Yoga, PNF Stretching, and Pilates Allegro in
addition to her AFAA primary group certification. She started to
dive into the holistic side of her fitness practice a couple years
ago as she coincidentally ran into holistic therapists and
meditation teachers who had given her some guidance. After teaching
yoga for 5 years, Amanda joined an intensive course at the Sivananda
Teacher Training Course in Nassau, Bahamas (one of the many
international yoga Vedanta centers). There for thirty days Amanda
lived with her swami in an ashram(yoga and meditation center)
gaining both the physical and mental benefits obtaining the full
experience of Yoga.
Amanda's mission is to improve the quality of others lives one at a
time and to transmit her knowledge onto others. She has a strong
passion for the mind-body awareness and is very interested in
Ayurveda. Her classes have a meditative approach with the goal of
allowing prana (body's life force/energy) to flow freely throughout
the body to aid in disease prevention and overall mental and
physical health. She teaches to all 5 points of yoga: proper
exercise, proper breathing, proper relaxation, proper diet, and
positive thinking and meditation. Amanda's Hatha Yoga classes, with
an incorporation of prana flows, ultimately prepares the yogi for
the higher stages of Raja Yoga. She is continually challenging her
students in order for maximum benefits to be obtained.
